Religion in Modern Taiwan
The Story of Han Xiangzi

I teach courses in East Asian religions. My research interests include Chinese popular and sectarian religions, Daoism and Confucianism, and the relationship of literature and religion in Late Imperial China. My book publications so far include an edited volume (Religion in Modern Taiwan: Tradition and Innovation in a Changing Society, University of Hawai'i Press, 2003) and an annotated translation of a seventeenth-century Daoist novel (The Story of Han Xiangzi: The Alchemical Adventures of a Daoist Immortal, University of Washington Press, 2007).
