Jill RaittJill Raitt

Professor Emerita
Education: Ph.D., University of Chicago
Interest: History of Christianity
Email: RaittJ@missouri.edu
Web: http://web.missouri.edu/~religjr/

My interests are the history of Christianity, especially spirituality and the theology of the Eucharist, and a recent project, "Religion, the Professions, and the Public." With regard to the first interest, I believe strongly that to understand any religion, for instance Christianity, one must know something about other major religions, Asian, Indigenous, and other Western religions. My scholarship has been informed and, I believe, strengthened by this principle. My areas of specialization are the Middle Ages and Reformation although I stretch back to Augustine and forward to Thomas Merton. See http://rpp.missouri.edu/ for more on Religion, the Professions, and the Public. I retired (sort of!) in August 2000.

The following reflect selected items since 2002.
