We are thrilled to announce that our distinguished alumna, Dr. Emily Clark (MA '09), will will be giving a lecture entitled "Spirits of New Orleans: What the Dead Had to Say and Why It Mattered" Monday March 19 at 5 p.m. in A&S 113. Dr. Clark's recent book A Luminous Brotherhood: Afro-Creole Spiritualism in Nineteenth-Century New Orleans  (University of North Carolina Press 2016) is the winner of the Francis B. Simkins Award (Southern Historical Association) and the Michael Thomason Award (Gulf South Historical Association) and was named a Choice Reviews Outstanding Academic Title.
